Are you fairly new to the Valley of the Sun? Are you an established resident who has not ventured far from Phoenix, Paradise Valley or even north Scottsdale?  Would you like to experience a place that makes you feel like you have stepped back in time to the old west?  Then spend a day or so in Old Town Scottsdale.  Made up of at least several blocks in any direction from East Indian School Road until you reach East 2nd Street as you head south on Scottsdale Road, this extremely charming section of south Scottsdale has everything you can imagine.  There are restaurants, antique stores, many genres of jewelry stores, gift shops and all kinds of unique stores to explore.  Each of these fun places dates back to the days of the old west right here in the Valley.  For a real treat make sure to stop by the Sugar Bowl restaurant when you get hungry.  They have some of the best sandwiches, luncheon meals, as well as home-made ice cream and fruit sherbet.  You cannot miss it near the southeast corner of Indian School and Scottsdale Roads.  Its adorable pink paint job with colored lettering will be certain to catch your eyes.

If you are in the mood for a little culture you can walk a few blocks to the east of Old Town and find several art galleries, a museum, upscale restaurants, theatres and also musical concert venues. If you would like to ride around Old Town Scottsdale you can do it on the Scottsdale Trolley.  A map of trolley stops, public parking facilities and Old Town in general can be found online at If you are from out of town and would like lodging while you visit Old Town, on this same website you can find a list of hotels and other accommodations.  Because there is so much to do here; including an active night-life scene, you may well want to take advantage of the Old Town lodging facilities; that way you can spend at least a couple of days down there.  One thing is for sure – no matter where you are coming from – you will never forget your visit to Old Town Scottsdale.  You will want to return time and time again.
